Good morning,

my name is Nicoletta Belletti,

I am an Italian painter and I am writing to inform you that I will exhibit at Artexpo 2016 in New York from 14th to the 17th April.

I come from Parma, a lovely, lively town in the centre of the Emilia area, in Italy, famous for its food, scents, the “Violetta di Parma” and its music with Giuseppe Verdi and his famous operas.

In the paintings on show in the exhibition, you will find the same elements that make up my city: 

music, because painting for me is a symphony, composing a harmony of colors;
scent, because my bouquets of flowers bloom and give us their scent and liveliness that is mine as well as my city’s as well as of my animals that question the viewer with their curiosity.

 Mine is a scented poetry in painting: lively, material, magnetic, all to be discovered.

Vari sono i soggetti che Nicoletta Belletti propone nella sua pittura, animali da cortile o compagnia,  ritratti di persone e fiori.

I fiori della Belletti fioriscono sulla tela attraverso dense spatolate di colore; è una pittura  materica quella della Belletti che richiama alla mente la stagione dell’informale, senza però averne i grovigli esistenziali.

Potremmo dire che i suoi non sono fiori del male perché la sua è una pittura pacificata dai colori tenui delle sue peonie, fino all’accensione di un incendio di colore con i suoi papaveri e i suoi girasoli.

Sembra di scorgere Matisse il cui intendimento  ultimo in pittura era generare il senso di pace e refrigerio nello spettatore, allontanare l’orrore e la Belletti ci riesce pienamente.

E se, come ebbe a dire Benedetto Croce, la pittura è essenzialmente evocazione lirica, allora i suoi quadri si trasformano in potenti scrigni che schiudono intuizione, evocazione e profumo.

 La Belletti è deliziosamente in bilico tra Matisse e Monet.

Nicoletta Belletti proposes various subjects in her art: yard animals and pets, portraits and flowers.

Her flowers bloom on the canvas through strokes of colour and her painting is tactile, reminding us of the informal season without the existential tangles.

We could say that hers are not "flowers of evil" because her painting is pacified by the tenuous colours of her peonies, at the same time not forgetting the blaze of colour of her poppies and sunflowers.

We can find traces of Matisse, whose intention it was to create a sense of peace and coolness in the spectator, keeping the horror at bay.

Belletti succeeds greatly in this.

Finally, if we remember, as Benedetto Croce said, that painting is simply a lyrical evocation, her paintings become powerful treasure boxes which release intuition, evocation and perfume.

ArtExpo 2015 - New York, 23-26 aprile

Dal 23 al 26 aprile sarò ad ArtExpo: per il mio esordio internazionale ho scelto New York, città di grande fervore culturale che contende a Londra il titolo di capitale mondiale dell’arte contemporanea. Nato 37 anni fa, ArtExpo è oggi un evento di riferimento per collezionisti, proprietari di gallerie d’arte, art dealer, designer e architetti provenienti da tutto il mondo: i visitatori attesi nei quattro giorni della mostra mercato sono 25.000.

A New York porterò in vetrina sette mie creazioni: si tratta di tele che ho scelto perché emblematiche del mio percorso artistico. I soggetti sono quelli “classici” della mia produzione: quindi le peonie per la serie “Fiori”, le meduse per la serie “Acqua”, galli, maiali e cani per la serie “Animali”.

ArtExpo 2015 - New York, 23-26 April

From 23 to 26 April I will be at ArtExpo: for my international debut I have chosen New York, a city of great cultural fervour that competes with London for the title of world capital of contemporary art. Launched 37 years ago, ArtExpo today is a key event for collectors, art gallery owners, art dealers, designers and architects from around the world: 25,000 visitors are expected during the four days of the exhibition.

In New York I will be showcasing seven of my creations: I chose these paintings because they are emblematic of my artistic journey. Their subjects are the “classic” ones of my production: peonies for the “Flowers” series, jellyfish for the “Water” series, roosters, pigs and dogs for the “Animals” series.

More specifically, here are the works that will accompany me on my trip to ArtExpo, New York: : “Romantiche peonie” (“Romantic peonies”) (120x80 cm), “È nato prima l’uovo o la gallina” (“What came first, the chicken or the egg”)  (80x80 cm), “Maialino a New York” (“Piglet in New York) (80x80 cm), “Titti dov’è” (“Where's Titti”) (80x80 cm), “Come ali di farfalla” (“Like the wings of a butterfly”) (140x100 cm), “Fiore secco” “Dried flower” (170x100 cm), “Meduse in grigio” (“Jellyfish in grey”) (170x100 cm).
